Windows 10 2004 Nearing End of Servicing

11/17/21

According to a recent survey, as of October 2021, Windows 10 2004 was installed on 14.1 percent of PCs. That’s quite a large percentage considering servicing for this edition of Windows is set to end in December. Are you ready for this end of service?

On Dec. 14, 2021, all editions of Windows 10, version 2004 and Windows Server, version 2004 will reach the end of servicing. After that date, devices running these editions will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates with protection from the latest security threats.

Microsoft recommends updating your devices to the latest version of Windows 10, or upgrade eligible devices to Windows 11.

If you wish to stick with Windows 10, Windows 10 21H1 is available for broad deployment as of Nov. 4. It is being offered to all devices not affected by compatibility holds or configured to defer feature updates.

Windows 11 should be a relatively easy transition, as well. Feature updates will be launched on an annual basis in the second half of each year, and there are 24 months of support on tap for Home, Pro, Pro for Workstations and Pro Education editions.
