Epicor ERP 10.2 is expected in the October timeframe and so far, Epicor has been pretty tight lipped on what changes we can expect to see. Epicor has been discussing their new mission statement: Ease of Everything. This ease of everything includes ease of use, ease of upgrading, ease of access, ease of deployment, ease of learning, and Epicor is striving to be a company that is easy to do business with. In holding true with this mission statement, Epicor 10.2 is sure to have improvements in several areas to further increase the ease of their ERP software.  Features and functionality are very important to make a solution easy to use without invasive customizations that create barriers to further innovation. Another important aspect of ease of use is intuitive navigation. For this, you need a modern user interface.

Although most of the details of 10.2 have remained hush hush, Epicor has openly discussed that it will have new user experiences(UX) in this release. This version of Epicor ERP will include a new role-based and personalized “Home Page.” It will have a whole new look that is clean and bright, but more importantly, will make decision makers better informed and more productive. It will feature active tiles that will present key metrics that change live as you watch. You can configure your own “data discovery” through a variety of different presentation styles including ordinary charts, and maps of just about anything ranging from your own warehouse to maps of the world. This gives you the option to look at something such as an inventory levels in normal bar or line chart form in aggregate or you can view it directly on the map of the warehouse. You can look at this information at a certain point in time, not just in real-time. You can look back or look forward. By dragging your mouse across the date, you see it in a format that appears like time-lapse photography, with more information available once you click on it.
This is just one example that we have been privy to on how Epicor ERP 10.2 is going to improve the overall user experience. With the release expected in the next couple months, I am guessing more details will start to be leaked to help build the excitement of this new version of software. But if all the changes are focused on new user experience(UX), this version may be their best yet. 2W Tech is a Certified Epicor ERP Partner and would be happy to discuss your next Epicor upgrade with you.
