Visualize the Global Reach of Microsoft Azure with New Interactive Tool
It is almost impossible to imagine just how far Microsoft reach expands globally. The software giant whose every service boasts some type of association with cloud computing recently released an interactive, 3-D tool on the official Azure website that offers a visual representation of the breadth and extension of its data centers throughout the world.
The map, which can be found here, shows how far the global Microsoft operation reaches, including undersea cables and satellite operations in 3-D. The key at the top left of the page shows users of the map what each icon represents. Datacenters are prominent throughout Europe, the United States and Asia, and geographic regions in Africa and the Middle East are labeled as “coming soon.”
The map also shows some of Microsoft’s climate initiatives. Users can click on various icons to get more information on regional privacy compliance standards, and the climate sites show the type of investment, as well as the megawatts it generates.
This is just another way Microsoft can tout its nonstop expansion through Azure, even in a challenging economic environment. The company recently confirmed its cloud growth for its most recent financial quarter at roughly $23.4 billion.
