National Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2020 Asks You To “Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart.”

Today is the official kickoff of the 17th annual National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, a joint venture between the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCSA). This year’s theme – Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart – encourages individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace, stressing personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity.

After this kickoff week, each week of October focuses on a different area of emphasis:

  • Week of Oct. 5: If you connect it, protect it – The first week of Cybersecurity Awareness Month will highlight the ways in which internet-connected devices have impacted our lives.
  • Week of Oct 12: Securing devices at home and work – Week 2 will focus on steps users and organizations can take to protect internet-connected devices for personal and professional use.
  • Week of October 19: Securing Internet-connected devices in healthcare – This week will delve into the industry and consumer implications of internet-connected device use and what steps both can take on their own.
  • Week of October 26: The future of connected devices – This week will look at how technological innovations, such as 5G, might impact consumers’ and business’ online experiences.

Throughout the month, tip sheets and resources available for reducing your cybersecurity risks and protecting yourself online.
