Move Over Industry 4.0, Industry 5.0 is on the Rise

12/09/20

Many technological innovations such as the Internet of Things and Big Data, have allowed the world to become more connected everyday. Industry 4.0 is the term we use to refer to the integration of IoT and AI in industrial processes. IoT technologies were the foundation to this movement, and we are already witnessing them driving the next technological revolution, Industry 5.0.

Industry 5.0 will continue to build on Industry 4.0, however, we will in addition, see humans and intelligent machines collaborate, capitalizing on the strengths of both. The foundation IoT provides is needed in order to give robotic systems the accessibility they need to be useful collaborators. Robots provide the speed and accuracy that humans often lack or can’t deliver 100%. Humans are needed for flexibility and adding that missing component robots are unable to contribute, the ability to react to situations.

We are going to continue to see evolution with what IoT can really do and offer us. The next revolution is where the Internet of Things, turns into the Internet of Everything (IoE). IoE ties in devices, processes, data and people, literally connecting everything. IoT focuses on physical objects, IoE includes intangible processes and data in its scope of connectivity.  Although it appears we are years away from IoE, the world is currently changing more rapidly then anyone could have predicted years ago.

The Industrial Revolution and digital transformation are changing the way we do business and it is a beautiful thing to witness.
