Microsoft Unveiling Innovations in Microsoft Copilot

11/22/24

Microsoft Ignite convened this week, 200,000 individuals registered to participate, with over 14,000 attending the in-person event in Chicago. Participants were able to select from more than 800 sessions, demonstrations, and expert-led labs offered by Microsoft and its partners. This year’s event highlights a range of new products and significant updates, highlighting the continued evolution of Microsoft Copilot, advancements in the Copilot + AI stack, innovative tools for developers, and new devices built with robust AI capabilities.

Focusing on Microsoft Copilot, new purpose-built agents within Microsoft 365 Copilot will assume distinct roles, assisting teams or organizations with both routine tasks and complex business processes. Key agents include:

  • Agents in SharePoint: These agents enhance employee access to insights, facilitating informed decision-making based on specific SharePoint content. Users can create customized agents for files, folders, or sites that support common business processes. These agents can be personalized and shared across emails, meetings, and chats, allowing real-time responses to user inquiries while adhering to existing SharePoint permissions and sensitivity labels. These agents are now generally available.
  • Employee Self-Service Agent: This agent, part of Microsoft 365 Copilot Business Chat (BizChat), streamlines responses to common workplace policy questions and manages key HR and IT tasks. Users can access benefits and payroll information, initiate leave requests, order new laptops, and seek assistance with Microsoft 365 products—all in one location. This agent is currently in private preview.
  • Facilitator Agent: Designed for Teams meetings and chats, this agent enhances collaboration by taking real-time notes during meetings and summarizing vital information in chats. The Facilitator agent is in preview.
  • Interpreter Agent: This agent provides real-time interpretation in Teams meetings in up to nine languages, allowing participants to communicate in their preferred language. It can also simulate the speaker’s voice for a more inclusive experience, with availability in preview early next year.
  • Project Manager Agent: This agent automates project management within Planner, managing everything from plan creation to task execution. It can create new plans or utilize pre-configured templates, overseeing the entire project lifecycle, including task assignments, progress tracking, reminders, notifications, and status reporting. It is also capable of completing tasks such as content creation and is currently in preview.
