Is it Time to Re-evaluate Your ERP Solution?

08/04/23

It is always interesting to see new industry reports on trends. Epicor recently released their 2023 Industry Trends report on the enterprise ERP market. Overall, Epicor’s research concluded that businesses of all sizes are loyal to their ERP solution provider. Enterprise businesses came in at ninety-five percent loyal and SMB businesses reporting in at about ninety percent. With the amount of effort and resources it takes to select an ERP solution, is it really surprising that organizations are not looking to have to start that process over again?

What are some factors that could cause an organization to re-evaluate their ERP solution? According to Epicor’s research, here are some of the top reasons reported:

  • Cybersecurity concerns
  • Need increased functionality
  • Lackluster performance
  • Better value ERP available in the market
  • New leadership within business
  • More competitive pricing
  • Integration restraints

Although strong cybersecurity is critical across all industries, it is the primary concern among businesses in manufacturing.

The other finding in this report worth discussing when it comes to re-evaluating an ERP solution is the ERP service provider they chose to partner with. A strong partnership and support can sway a business to stick with an ERP solution more so than any other reason. If a business feels like their ERP Consultant is an excellent partner and extremely responsive, they typically do not consider switching solutions. Unless it is something that specific ERP Consultant is recommending. Proving the point that the ERP Consultant you chose to work with is just as important as a decision as selecting an ERP solution.
