Copilot in Microsoft Stream Coming Soon and More
Microsoft Stream is part of Microsoft 365 and is a video service for creating, storing, sharing, and viewing videos within an organization. Microsoft added to its product roadmap this week that the web version of Stream beginning in February 2024, will include the latest Copilot generative AI assistant.
Copilot in Stream leverages large language model artificial intelligence technology to gain insights from Stream videos that are housed on SharePoint. These videos can be quickly and effectively summarized with a transcript, or you can drill down by asking questions on topics you need to better understand. You will need the Microsoft 365 Copilot license for that feature.
Then in March 2024, both the web and mobile versions of Microsoft Stream will gain some new editing features. Stream on SharePoint will gain a video trimming feature that will allow users with edit permissions to trim the start, middle or end of a video. When the video is trimmed, the transcript and chapters will be adjusted automatically to reflect what is shown in the video. Only those with edit permissions will be able to see the full original content and edit or delete those trimmed parts. Or you can just keep them hidden. This feature when available can be accessed by opening a video in the Stream web app and hitting the edit button.
Microsoft Stream is just the latest Microsoft product to receive the latest Copilot generative AI assistance. Look for this trend to continue throughout the entire Microsoft line card.
