Benefits of Cloud Backup

12/22/21

Backing up your data is simply a must these days with the amount of risk out there. The question becomes, what is the best way to do so? The answer is simple, cloud backup. Cloud backup refers to files that are mirrored from a device, any device that stores data locally, to the cloud. You can access them from anywhere that has an internet connection. Computer files are backed up automatically to the cloud and with just a few clicks can be retrieved. Restoring a full backup from the cloud takes a very long time but grabbing only a few files is very quick and efficient.

Outside of the benefit of accessing your data from anywhere, there are several other benefits to using cloud backup including:

  • Scalability. Cloud backup eliminates the need for hardware and extra workers to manage it. Which also means it is more affordable and easier to scale up and down as needed. You can take up as little or much space as your business requires and only pay for what you use.
  • Limited data loss risk. Data stored on a cloud backup is distributed across various servers which safeguards data being lost due to hardware failures. All data is off-site and secure and can withstand external risks.
  • Automated backups. Exactly what it sounds like, your data is automatically updated, eliminating the risk of forgetting. It also takes time to manually backup data, whereas cloud backups do not require any additional time commitment.

It is recommended that data is backed up using a third-party application, so even if you use Microsoft cloud, you should still use another cloud backup source.
