Microsoft Teams to Integrate New Calendar from Outlook for Enhanced User Experience

10/14/24

Microsoft has announced that Teams will soon integrate a new Calendar feature derived from the New Outlook for Windows. This update aims to provide a cohesive user experience across New Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the web, Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Places.

Users will have the option to opt-in to the new Calendar experience through a toggle, similar to the existing feature that allows switching between New Outlook and Classic Outlook. According to the Microsoft 365 roadmap, this enhancement will allow Teams users to better manage their schedules, prepare for meetings, and optimize days for in-office collaboration with tools like Microsoft Copilot.

The toggle for the new calendar will be positioned at the top right of the calendar app within Teams, defaulting to off, allowing users to explore the new functionality at their discretion. Detailed information can be found on the Microsoft 365 roadmap here, with the rollout beginning in November and expected to commence next year.

Additionally, the roadmap highlights improvements to the offline mode for the New Outlook, enabling users to launch the app without an internet connection.
