Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 is Here
AI agents, GPT-4o image generation, and a new Copilot Notebook feature are all on their way. Microsoft’s 365 suite of productivity applications is a cornerstone of many businesses’ daily operations. To enhance this suite with data-driven intelligence, Microsoft has integrated 365 with its Copilot AI assistant. The latest release significantly boosts what Copilot can offer to working professionals.
Microsoft just unveiled its Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 Spring release, introducing a mix of previously announced and brand-new features designed to elevate the Microsoft 365 experience.
The new features primarily focus on AI agents that assist working professionals in increasing productivity. For instance, the Researcher and Analyst agents, capable of conducting advanced research and data analysis using existing OpenAI models, are now available in the new Agent Store via the Frontier program. According to the press release, the Agent Store will function as a central hub for AI agents, including those from your company and partners like Jira, Miro, and Monday.com.
Microsoft has also introduced the Skill Discovery agent, which leverages the People Skills data layer to help leaders form skills-based teams and enables employees to find colleagues based on the skills they need.
The new Create feature enables users to leverage OpenAI’s GPT-4o model to produce AI-generated images that comply with company-approved brand guidelines. This feature is particularly useful for modifying brand images and creating visuals for PowerPoints and social media assets.
The Copilot Notebooks feature allows users to compile various elements of their workflow, such as spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and meeting notes, into a single notebook. Users can then search through this content using Copilot’s conversational chat interface. Microsoft describes Copilot Notebooks as a “collaboration partner,” like Google’s NotebookLM.
Additionally, Microsoft has introduced a new shortcut to make accessing Copilot on Windows 11 PCs more convenient. Users can now open Microsoft Copilot Chat by pressing the Copilot key and the Win + C shortcut.
During Microsoft’s 50th anniversary celebration earlier this month, the company revealed several new features, including Copilot Search and Memory, which are now being rolled out to Microsoft 365 users. Microsoft 365 Copilot Search allows users to ask questions conversationally about the organization’s apps and data, integrating with third-party apps like Google Drive, Slack, and ServiceNow. While it cannot search the web in real-time like Copilot Search, it maintains the same conversational capabilities, grounding answers in the user’s Microsoft 365 data.
The Memory feature enables Copilot to remember basic information about users, providing more personalized and high-quality responses.
Microsoft has also launched new features in the Copilot Control System to help IT administrators manage and govern AI agents. Finally, the new Copilot Studio Agents Report provides IT with valuable insights into how employees are utilizing AI agents, along with the resulting ROI and productivity improvements.
With these new features, Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 is poised to revolutionize the way professionals work, making tasks more efficient and collaborative. Stay tuned for more updates as these features roll out and transform your daily operations.
