Key Insights on Building an AI Roadmap

03/04/25

Today we hosted a webinar on developing an AI roadmap and strategy. Mark Jamieson, President and CEO, and Tom Gearin, CTO, both of 2W Tech were the presenters. AI is one of the hottest topics in the world right now, but how it can be applied in the business world is still a bit of unknown territory. Once the Teams webinar concluded, Copilot created meeting notes that summarized the webinar. I thought it would be fun to put those notes in ResolveIQ, which is 2W Tech’s proprietary software and see what type of blog article it produced.

Here are the results:

In today’s webinar, Mark and Tom delved into the multifaceted world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), shedding light on its definitions, applications, and strategic implementations within businesses. Below is a summary of their key points.

Mark and Tom introduced the concept of AI, focusing on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs). These technologies enable systems to understand and process human language, offering transformative applications across various business contexts.

The discussion highlighted general AI applications, particularly chatbots like Grok and ChatGPT. Additionally, they explored application-specific tools such as Microsoft Copilot and Epicor’s Prism. These tools facilitate data interaction and task automation, enhancing operational efficiency.

Mark and Tom emphasized the significance of creating tailored AI solutions for businesses. They cited Resolve IQ as an example of an application that can be customized to meet specific organizational needs. Maintaining data security and control within the organization was underscored as a critical consideration.

To implement AI effectively, Mark and Tom proposed a strategy that begins with defining clear use cases. They advised thinking small and aiming for quick wins to achieve short-term goals. Examples of potential applications include automating email routing and summarizing data from spreadsheets and PDFs.

The duo stressed the importance of preparing data and infrastructure for successful AI implementation. Key steps include cleaning and preprocessing data, categorizing documents, and migrating data to the cloud to enhance security and flexibility.

Mark and Tom shared insights on AI’s impact on workplace culture, noting its potential to improve efficiency and job satisfaction by automating routine tasks. They also acknowledged concerns regarding job displacement, emphasizing the need for training and transparent communication.

Tom discussed the role of AI in bolstering cybersecurity, particularly in automating threat detection and response. However, he cautioned that attackers could also leverage AI to create advanced phishing emails, highlighting the importance of continuous training and vigilance.

In conclusion, AI presents vast opportunities for businesses to enhance their operations, improve efficiency, and secure their data. By implementing thoughtful strategies and customized applications, organizations can navigate the evolving landscape of AI while addressing potential challenges. (End of AI article).

The webinar was one hour long, and this blog article created from the meeting notes was a good summary of all the key points that were touched upon within the hour. There is still value of listening to the entire webinar to get into more of the nitty gritty on each topic. But it provides a great overview of what types of specific topics were addressed. Artificial intelligence when used appropriately and safely, can open a world of possibilities in your business. Please tech responsibilities.
