Have You Tried Microsoft Mesh?

01/26/24

Microsoft Mesh is a cloud-based platform for collaboration in mixed reality that connects people from different physical locations and devices into a shared immersive space. It was first introduced by Microsoft in April 2021 and was released as a public preview in October 2023 and just this month became generally available.

This new platform is built on Microsoft Azure, so it enables developers to build immersive, multi-user, cross-platform mixed reality apps. Mesh lets you scale efficiently as it lets you easily create 3D spaces using the Mesh toolkit and no-code editor.

Users can customize, create, and join immersive 3D spaces in Microsoft Teams and Mesh using cool avatars, tools, and features. You can use Mesh seamlessly in Teams meetings or as a standalone app if you are hosting a larger sized meeting and want a more custom experience. Some of the 3D environments include a fireside chat, roundtable, meeting room, and a cozy couch that are designed to help participants focus and reduced distractions.

You can use Mesh confidently since it has the enterprise-grade security and privacy integral to Microsoft 365.

The standard Mesh features including avatars and immersive spaces in Teams meeting are available with a Microsoft 365 or Teams business plan. Custom immersive spaces are included with a Teams Premium license or a six-month free trial for Mesh premium features and the Mesh app. The standard features are available in the following Teams and Microsoft 365 business plans: Teams Essentials, M365 Business Basic, M365 Business Standard, M365 Business Premium, M365 E3 or E5, and Office 365 E1, E3, or E5.
