Epicor Software Applications Make Transition to SaaS

03/15/21

Despite their commitment to move towards SaaS, Epicor Software still has a large customer base that is running legacy, on-premise products. Whether it be heavy customization, lack of trust in cloud solutions, old-school mentality, fear of change, or one of the thousands of other reasons, there are plenty of organizations dragging their feet in migrating away from on-premise solutions.

Epicor considers themselves an innovative company and is committed to helping all of their customers embrace the cloud. They have made major investments in modernizing their product architecture to support a SaaS model and in redesigning the UI to be more usable and mobile friendly.

Epicor still utilizes 3 deployment methods:

  • Traditional on-premise
  • Complete SaaS: Requires no new hardware, you run your instance in an Azure Cloud environment off-site.
  • Software as a colocation: hosting a private cloud in a colocation facility. This sometimes is a good solution for someone looking to finally move off on-premise but isn’t ready to commit to a complete SaaS application.

Epicor continues to improve features and functionality to try to entice more of their customers to make the transition to SaaS. If you remain on-premise, there are certain product features and functionality that you may not be able to benefit from. The word is modernizing, don’t be left behind.
