Enhancing Productivity with Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered assistant integrated into various Microsoft products, designed to enhance productivity, and streamline tasks. It provides intelligent suggestions and automation to help users efficiently manage their workflows. Copilot can assist with tasks such as drafting documents, generating code, summarizing information, and more, by leveraging advanced machine learning models. It is aimed at improving user experience by making routine tasks easier and more intuitive.
Microsoft has begun rolling out an update for the Microsoft Copilot app for Windows through the Microsoft Store, introducing several key changes and enhancements. This update replaces the previous Copilot progressive web app (PWA) with a native version. After installing the update, you will find Copilot appearing in your system tray upon launching it.
A new quick view feature can be accessed using the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut on Windows 10 and 11 PCs. This allows you to move and resize the quick view window to fit your workflow. You can open and close Copilot’s quick view as needed by using Alt + Space. To revert to the main Copilot app window, simply click the icon positioned at the top left of the quick view window. For PCs equipped with a dedicated Copilot key, this will open the main window directly. Microsoft is also exploring additional keyboard shortcuts for the app according to their official blog page.
The Copilot app utilizes the RegisterHotKey function for the Alt + Space shortcut. Because many applications use this shortcut, Windows will designate the first app launched and running in the background on your PC as the active app when using Alt + Space.
This update (version 1.24112.123.0 and higher) is gradually rolling out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store. Not all Insiders will receive the update immediately, but Microsoft is excited to preview these enhancements to ensure a great Copilot experience for Windows users.
