Digital Transformation on the Rise with Companies of All Sizes
If you’re not ready to shift a huge chunk of your annual budget dedicated to digital business to new technologies, you’ll need to rethink your strategy. This is a must if you want to keep up with your competition, especially if you work in the manufacturing industry. Regardless of your company size, the digital transformation is changing the way that all organizations function.
In a recent survey, about 91 percent of IT decision-makers surveyed said their organization plans to adopt or already has adopted a “digital first” business strategy. Naturally, large enterprises with more than 1,000 employees plan to spend an average of $29.6 million in the next 12 months. However, small to midsize businesses also will spend an average of $2.7 million– still a significant figure.
What’s driving this continual migration toward a digital transformation?
- Improving the customer experience: 67 percent of IT decision makers placed creating better customer experiences within their top five objectives. In order to create a better customer experience, these organizations have deployed tools and strategies such as mobile solutions and applications, improved UX, and community/collaboration tools.
- Transforming the workforce along with technology: According to the survey, top responses for increased workforce productivity were increasing the level of process automation (46 percent), enabling easy ways to share ideas and collaborate with coworkers (45 percent), and enabling access to more data to better understand the customer (43 percent).
The survey showed companies are relying on strategies and technologies to fuel their digital transformations. For example, mobile devices and apps are most commonly used to drive digital business, but 5G, AI and machine learning are expected to push digital business into the future. About 20 percent of survey respondents are piloting initiatives for AI and ML, and another 21 percent already have AI or ML in use.
