Confidence in Remote Work Grows

05/15/20

By now, many of us with remote work have had a video-conference or two blitzed by a toddler, or kept a pet in your home office while working on a big project, or even celebrated the lazy workday mornings. You probably accepted your new normal a few weeks ago, and now you might even enjoy the perks remote work offers. And according to the LinkedIn Workforce Confidence Index, a majority of your peers believe it’s possible to keep remote work going even after the pandemic is over.

LinkedIn reports 55 percent of respondents think their industry can be effective when people are working remotely. The digital fields are enjoying their newfound time at home the most, with more than 75 percent of people believing that remote work and effective operations go hand in hand.

However, not every industry is as optimistic, according to the results of the survey. Only 41 percent of respondents in manufacturing believe remote work works for the industry.

But not all the “hard” sectors share that sentiment. Respondents from the hardware and networking and energy and mining industries both came in at 61 percent in favor of remote work. Transportation and logistics also logged a 52 percent favorable rating for remote work.
