Understanding Microsoft Viva
Microsoft Viva was announced back in February, but there hasn’t been a lot of chatter around it until recent. To help remote work situations, Microsoft introduced Viva as an employee experience platform. Viva has been released commercially, but the public preview release is expected this month, along with an updated mobile app.
The goal of VIVA is to bring together tools for employee communications, learning, knowledge discovery, and employee wellbeing in one solution.
Viva consists of 4 applications that are built into the Microsoft Teams collaboration service. Each can be used and purchased independently. Some are included with your Office 365/Microsoft 365 plans. Still waiting to hear if there will be a bundle available.
- Viva Connections permits content sharing, news feed and stream video integration
- Viva Insights is to help employees with their time management, both personal and organizational
- Viva Learning is an extensive learning library to help employees get trained on various topics
- Viva Topics uses artificial intelligence to mine data stored in SharePoint and creates topic pages
Many businesses have learned to adapt to hybrid work, now, they need to make that approach more sustainable. Tools like Microsoft Viva can help with that.
