There is no denying that Zoom has some fantastic background options, however Microsoft Teams is rolling out a new feature that will make Zoom pale in comparison.  Microsoft Teams Together Mode uses AI to digitally place you in a shared background with up to 49 of your coworkers, making it look and feel like you’re sitting in the same room with them during virtual meetings.

You’ll be able to choose from different views, like sitting in an auditorium, coffee bar or at a conference table. Virtual meetings are great for picking up on body language and seeing people’s expressions, which get lost during regular phone meetings.

The Together mode view is the same for everyone in the meeting and doesn’t change, unlike grid views that show participants’ videos in different locations on each person’s screen and that move the boxes around during the call based on who’s speaking.

Together Mode with auditorium view is rolling out now and will be generally available in August.

Look for more new features being rolled out in Teams soon including a hand-raising and emoji-creating tool, whiteboard support, Cortana integration and transcriptions of meetings.
