Microsoft Teams Drops Support for Internet Explorer 11

11/30/20

Microsoft Teams will drop support for Internet Explorer 11 beginning tomorrow, December 1, 2020. This means users of the web browser will no longer be able to join video call or chat sessions. Microsoft has been urging users since August to switch over to their Edge browser.  Anyone choosing to still use Internet Explorer 11, are promised by Microsoft to have a degraded experience or will not be able to connect at all to Microsoft 365 apps and services.

Microsoft Teams is the first of the Microsoft 365 product suite to drop this browser, but all others are expected to follow suit in the coming months. One solution for Internet Explorer 11 users is to download the Microsoft Teams desktop client, available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and more. Or you know, you could just switch web browsers.
