Microsoft Azure Confidential Computing
Security is a key driver accelerating the adoption of cloud computing, but it’s also a major concern when you’re moving extremely sensitive IP and data scenarios to the cloud. Azure confidential computing protects the confidentiality and integrity of your data and code while it’s processed in the public cloud. Cloud security is the cornerstone of Microsoft’s confidential cloud vision, which aims to remove Microsoft from the trusted computing base of Azure. Microsoft spends one billion dollars per year on cybersecurity and much of that goes to making Microsoft Azure the most trusted cloud platform.
Microsoft Azure is the first cloud to offer new data security capabilities with a collection of features and services called Azure confidential computing. Confidential computing offers a protection that to date has been missing from public clouds, encryption of data while in use. This means that data can be processed in the cloud with the assurance that it is always under customer control. Confidential computing ensures that when data is “in the clear,” which is required for efficient processing, the data is protected inside a Trusted Execution Environment.
Azure confidential computing safeguards data from malicious and insider threats while it’s in use, helps maintain control of data through its lifetime, helps protect and validate the integrity of the code in the cloud, and ensures the data and code is opaque to the cloud platform provider.
We are just seeing the beginning of confidential computing. Most of the major cloud providers have started with their own collection of features and services that will apply to their cloud platform. 2W Tech is a Microsoft Gold partner and has IT Consultants on staff that have expertise with Azure cloud.
