Improved Snap Layouts Coming to Windows 11
Snap Layouts already is a favorite feature among Windows 11 users, helping boost productivity by improving your multitasking abilities with a quick flick of your fingers that show you all the apps you have running and allowing you to jump easily from one to the other. Microsoft is now working on an improvement to Snap Layouts to make it more visually appealing.
In the Dev Channel version of Windows 11, the relevant app icon in a Snap Layout group now shows up overlaid on top of an acrylic background during resizing. This is an update from the standard version of Windows 11, where the Snap Layout only shows a glass tile. Users can snap some windows using the snap assist, resize the snapped window layout using the buffer, and watch the other snapped windows go out of focus overlaid with their app icon.
Since this is being tested in the Dev Channel of the Windows Insider program, there isn’t a specific time frame for when non-beta users and everyone with regular Windows 11 will have access to the updated Snap Layouts. But other changes in Dev Channel – the ability to mute and unmute the microphone from the taskbar in Windows 11 and a new media player and Notepad app – are scheduled to be released in Windows 11 in February.
