How Much is Too Much for Your Security Solutions Stack?

Cybersecurity is important, but how much is too much when it comes to your security solutions stack?

Of course, you want to protect your organization as best as possible. However, at some point, some of the tools in your security stack may not be suited for your specific needs.

Be sure to consider these factors when taking a critical look at your security solutions stack:

  • Create an inventory of your existing security tools – Before you invest in new technology for your security stack, make sure you know what you already have. Determine why each tool was originally purchased and document the available features your organization issuing and how it shares threat intelligence.
  • Create a tools coverage map – You should determine your critical coverage categories and analyze how well each tool covers the category. You’ll be surprised to see how much overlap you have, and you’ll cut costs by eliminating different products that can give you the same result.
  • Compile and categorize your list of incidents – You should work with your SOC/IT team and create an existing set of actions. Also, track the number of occurrences, percentage of total and cumulative percentage incidents for each action. This will help you decide what has the greatest risk impact, thereby giving you data you need to focus your security solutions stack.

There’s no need to throw anything and everything at your security solutions stack. Make sure you’re choosing what works best for your organization. 2W Tech is a technology service provider that has IT Consultants on staff that specialize in security solutions. Let us help guide you and ensure the security solutions stack you are choosing is the best one available to you.
