Microsoft 365 and Azure Outage Affects Multiple Services

07/30/24

Another tough start to the day for some Microsoft customers. Microsoft announced this morning they are investigating an ongoing and widespread outage blocking access to some Microsoft 365 and Azure services.

“We’re currently investigating access issues and degraded performance with multiple Microsoft 365 services and features. More information can be found under MO842351 in the admin center,” Redmond said.

There are some users that are reporting also having issues connecting to the Microsoft 365 admin center and opening the Service Health Status page. Which is troublesome because users need to access that page for real-time information on issues impacting Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365/Power Platform admin centers.

“We are investigating reports of issues connecting to Microsoft services globally. Customers may experience timeouts connecting to Azure services,” Redmond stated on the Azure status page.

“We have multiple engineering teams engaged to diagnose and resolve the issue. More details will be provided as soon as possible.”

Microsoft originally reported the outage weas only affecting Europe, but there are multiple other reports making it appear it could be global. Since the onset of this outage approximately one hour ago, Downdetector has received hundreds of reports from users who are experiencing various issues. These include problems connecting to Outlook, difficulties accessing Microsoft 365 websites, and disruptions with services like Entra and Power Apps.

Despite Microsoft’s ongoing investigation, the Office service health and network health status pages for Microsoft 365 currently indicate no problems with Microsoft’s network and availability, the customer’s network infrastructure, or internet service provider availability.

The company said Tuesday it has “identified a potential networking issue” and is working on solving the problem.

We recommend visiting the Azure Status Page for real-time updates on the resolution progress.
